Globalisation and news: blog tasks 1) Is our news influenced by American cultural imperialism? Give some examples arguing for or against this perspective. In this day and age we are all influenced by the web. There is a lot of click bait content across the internet whether its from YouTube videos or online link sources. The reasoning behind the click bait sites and sources is to attract clicks and views on the piece of text. This results in the increase in revenue for the clicked- on site. An example would be a coverage from a few years ago of a Malaysian missing plane, this story cause a lot of news TV sources to cover this story and to put the word out there. The main reason they covered this story is because they saw that the site had a lot of views and shares so they shared it too. It has allowed people to approach purchasing items in a whole new way. The rate in which people are using bitcoin is constantly growing; the new way of transactions has allowed a prosperous future to develop. for example, bitcoin plunged 31 per cent at one point in September and again 10 per cent last month, only to regain all losses and more in just a couple of days.  Bitcoin was first launched in 2009, and more than a thousand digital currencies are in existence today with an aggregate value north of US$300 billion (S$404 billion). The amount of economic value created could be as high as US$ 300 to US$400 billion globally by 2027, according to UBS estimates.
